Learn to progress using aiders on a two-day aid climbing course with PirineoSur. This course is for climbers who want to use equipment to move through sections where natural holds are insufficient.
Practise selecting, placing and removing nuts, cams and other protection, and assessing placements. Exercises cover balance, weight transfer and movement on aiders, including overhanging sections. Rope management and solutions to common progression problems complete the training.
The course runs from May to October for 2 to 4 participants, at an intermediate level. Read the prerequisites and detailed programme, then contact PirineoSur in Jaca to arrange your dates and equipment.
For participants with some climbing experience who already know how to belay and understand the basic organisation and progression of multi-pitch climbing.
Days 1 and 2: aid climbing practice from 08:00 to 16:30. A theory session on grading and route descriptions runs from 19:00 to 20:00.
Learn basic movement using aiders, cleaning pitches and placing removable protection. Use anchors, knots and equipment for aid climbing; progress on fixed and removable protection; practise safety techniques with removable protection; build and assess trad, mixed and fixed belay stations; understand aid climbing grades and route descriptions.
