PirineoSur’s off-piste ski lessons are for skiers who want to take their existing technique onto ungroomed snow or improve their off-piste experience. This session provides two hours of teaching in Astún or Candanchú, in the Aragón valley of the Spanish Pyrenees. The MAX4 format is available for an individual, a couple or a group of up to four people with a similar skiing level.
The lesson gives you time to work with an instructor on specific aims: improving your stance, linking turns, controlling speed and adapting to different snow. When enquiring, explain where you usually ski and which situations you find difficult. This helps focus the session on the skills you want to develop.
You should already be able to make basic parallel turns on red and black pistes, or have previous off-piste skiing experience that you want to improve. This is not a first lesson for someone learning to ski from scratch. An introduction to off-piste skiing means applying an existing skiing foundation to different snow and terrain.
If you are coming with other people, describe each person’s ability when you enquire. A shared MAX4 session works best when the participants can practise similar exercises and descents. If you are unsure whether this activity matches your experience, speak to PirineoSur before choosing your lesson.
Teaching can cover stance, turns and speed control on ungroomed snow. The instructor adapts the exercises and descents to the participants’ experience and the conditions. Powder, crust and spring snow create different challenges; recognising those differences and adjusting your movements is part of the technical work.
The activity also covers terrain assessment, identifying risks and basic avalanche safety concepts, including the use of an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe. These topics sit within a two-hour ski lesson. They should not be understood as a complete course preparing you to travel independently in every type of mountain terrain.
The activity information includes two hours of teaching, the professional assigned to the lesson, avalanche safety equipment —transceiver, shovel and probe— and technical advice on choosing equipment. The resort lift pass and technical ski equipment are not included. Assistance insurance outside the lesson period is also excluded.
If you need to rent equipment, tell the team what you require so that a reservation can be arranged. Check the options and rate shown on this page before booking. Confirm the date, time and meeting point as well. The advertised season runs from December to April; arrangements depend on availability and conditions.
Yes. MAX4 is available for individual skiers, couples and groups of up to four people of a similar level. Give the number of participants when you enquire about a session.
This activity requires basic parallel skiing on red and black pistes or previous off-piste experience. If you are still learning the foundations of skiing, ask the team which ski lesson would suit your current level.
The resort lift pass and technical equipment are not part of the included services. Confirm what to bring and mention any equipment rental needs in advance.
Ask about availability for your two-hour off-piste ski lesson. Include your preferred dates, group size, skiing experience and equipment needs to help organise the session.
