Seven Maladeta 3,000-metre peaks in one mountain day

This PirineoSur outing proposes seven summits in one day in the Maladeta massif, Benasque Valley. The list includes Delmás, Mir, Sayó, Bondidier, Cordier, Pico de la Rimaya and Maladeta. It is advertised from May to October for one to four people at a high difficulty level. Conditions and preparation must be assessed before confirming this high-mountain objective.

The seven summits and their elevations

The following summits are proposed, with reference elevations. The final sequence and completion of every summit depend on conditions and the group.

  • Punta Delmás (3,170 m)
  • Pico Mir (3,185 m)
  • Pico Sayó (3,220 m)
  • Pico Le Bondidier (3,153 m)
  • Pico Cordier (3,254 m)
  • Pico del Collado de la Rimaya (3,265 m)
  • Maladeta (3,308 m)

Experience and preparation

Previous summit experience, endurance for long days and comfort with heights are recommended. The requirements add a specific technical skill: knowing how to abseil, as the route includes a descent of approximately twenty metres. This distinguishes the programme from a straightforward mountain walk; discuss your rope experience when enquiring.

Programme and itinerary

The indicative schedule lists a 05:00 meeting at Hospital de Benasque car park. The day is devoted to linking the seven peaks. Confirm the duration, accumulated ascent and requirements of your chosen variant with the guide before booking.

The guide prepares and adapts progression to snow, terrain and the group. Linking the peaks is an aim, not a guarantee that every summit will be completed. A prior assessment outing can help evaluate endurance and technical handling. Familiarity with the boots, backpack and equipment intended for the trip is also useful.

Arrangements and equipment

One day with a high mountain guide, collective safety equipment and required listed technical items you do not own are included, subject to agreement. Hut accommodation and meals and travel to the meeting point are excluded. Semi-rigid boots suitable for snow, warm clothing, spare gloves, headtorch, 45–50-litre backpack and sunscreen are recommended. Bring food and water and confirm ice axe, crampon, helmet and harness loans. Confirm the applicable insurance cover before booking.

Questions before booking

How many days is the activity?

The advertised format is one day, with an indicative 05:00 meeting.

Must I know how to abseil?

Yes. The requirements specify that skill and an abseil of approximately twenty metres.

Are all seven summits guaranteed?

No. Completion depends on terrain, conditions and the group’s progress.

Ask about dates and availability.

Read all the programme details and contact us if you are unsure whether your experience matches the route. The main challenge is sustained effort and accumulated ascent and descent, particularly on the way down. Altitude can increase fatigue, while wind and low temperatures add to the difficulty.

Previous mountain walking and summit experience are recommended. If you are new to this type of outing, the guide can assess your level or suggest a preparatory ascent.

Prepare with endurance exercise and mountain walks, carrying a loaded backpack and using the footwear and equipment you will take on the trip. Break in new boots beforehand. The route does not require technical rock-climbing skills, but you must be comfortable with heights and exposed passages.

You must also know how to abseil: the route includes a short 20 m abseil.
