This four-day programme combines an initial outing in Somport forest with mountain days in the Aragón and Tena valleys. Proposals include the Col des Moines and Pic d’Astú traverse, the Arroyetas and Espelunciecha area and the route to Estanés lake from Sansanet. It is a selection of itineraries for discovering different winter landscapes, with Jaca as the meeting point.
Regular mountain activity or good physical fitness is required. The advertised level is moderate. Sections requiring crampons and an ice axe are completed under the guide’s supervision. Describe your experience and preparation so the route can be assessed.
Bring mountain clothing for cold, wind and snow, gloves and a spare pair, warm hat, sunglasses and sun protection. Prepare your backpack, water and food according to the equipment list. Confirm footwear and technical equipment before the outing.
The proposed season is 1 December–April, for a group of 2–8 people. Discuss dates and availability before booking.
Includes prior advice, mountain guidance, accident insurance, snowshoes, poles, helmet and listed shared equipment. Meals, dinners and transfers to activities are excluded. Review the remaining personal equipment and discuss any accommodation needs before booking.
The guide can change it according to terrain, weather, snow and the group.
Confirm the PirineoSur office in Jaca or the agreed meeting point and time before attending.
Provide dates, group size, experience and equipment needs to discuss the outing.
The outings explore winter scenery in the upper Tena and Canfranc areas. Ask how the snowshoeing days can be complemented by cultural visits in Jaca; this possibility does not replace the walking programme or extend the listed included services.
You should be accustomed to regular mountain outings or have a good level of fitness. The few sections requiring crampons and an ice axe are completed under the guide’s supervision.
