A snowshoe walk offers a way to explore snowy mountains without needing to ski. This PirineoSur outing lasts half a day and uses the Somport and Portalet areas of the Aragón and Tena valleys. The advertised level is easy and introductory, the group two to ten people and the usual season December to May, depending on available snow.

Experience and preparation required

No previous snowshoeing experience is required. The guide explains the equipment and adapts the route and pace to the group. Couples, friends and families can consider it for a first winter outing. When enquiring, tell us participants’ ages, walking experience and any relevant needs. An introductory rating does not mean that every route or condition suits every participant.

Itinerary and day-to-day arrangements

The indicative schedule starts with a 09:30 meeting at the PirineoSur office or the point agreed when booking. After travelling to the area, arrival is expected around 10:15, followed by equipment fitting and a 10:30 start. The outing finishes at approximately 13:15. Confirm the meeting point and final times before setting off.

During the walk, the guide introduces basic movement and discusses the landscape and winter environment. The actual itinerary depends on conditions and the group. Ask the guide which landscapes your selected route will explore.

Arrangements and equipment

The package lists half a day with a mountain guide, snowshoes and poles, safety equipment if needed, initial assistance insurance, advice and photos or video. Accommodation, meals and transport are excluded. Bring mountain boots, clothing for cold and changeable weather, hat, gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, a small backpack, water and snacks. Ask about footwear, equipment sizing or preparation when booking.

No. You walk on snowshoes and no previous experience is required.

Yes. You bring your own boots, clothing and the personal items on the kit list.
