Learn to climb on a two-day beginner rock climbing course in the Spanish Pyrenees. PirineoSur introduces movement, belaying and equipment on suitable bolted routes in the Tena and Aragón valleys, in groups of 1 to 8.
Practise footwork, balance, useful knots, clipping and communication. Learn to use a harness, helmet, rope and belay device, and understand lowering, abseiling, grades and route descriptions. The course combines explanations with practice on the rock, with sessions scheduled from 8 am to 3 pm.
The course is offered year-round, meeting in Jaca. A high mountain guide, technical equipment and assistance insurance are included. Transport, accommodation and meals are not included. Read the programme and prerequisites, then contact PirineoSur to arrange dates.
For active people with no previous climbing experience, or only a little experience, who want to learn safety and movement techniques for climbing on equipped routes.
This activity takes place in the mountains. Bring the following personal equipment:
We can lend you any of the technical equipment you cannot bring. Contact us before the course to arrange this.
Both days run from 08:00 to 15:00. Day 1 combines climbing theory and practice; day 2 focuses on practical climbing.
Enjoy learning the safety techniques used in sport climbing and the foundations of climbing movement. We will also advise you on how to keep improving after the course.
