Private cross-country ski lessons in Somport: classic and skate skiing

Learn cross-country skiing in Somport or improve your technique with a private lesson tailored to your experience. Start with classic Nordic skiing or work on skate skiing, also known as skating. We choose the content around your ability and goals, whether you want to move with more confidence, improve your glide or coordinate your movements on the Pyrenean trails.

Choose your technique and learning goals

In classic cross-country skiing, your skis move parallel, usually in prepared tracks. Work on balance, propulsion and the coordination of your arms and legs so that each stride develops into a glide. Lessons can introduce the foundations of Nordic skiing or help experienced skiers move more efficiently.

Skate skiing uses a sideways push with the skis in a V on a trail prepared for this technique. A lesson can focus on transferring your weight from one ski to the other, balancing on a single ski and coordinating your poles. Tell us about any classic or skating experience when enquiring. The session focuses on your chosen technique and goals, helping you apply what you learn on future outings.

Individual tuition or a lesson for your private group

Choose a one- or two-hour private lesson for one, two, three or four people. A two-hour option is also available for a pre-formed private group of five to ten participants. Similar experience and learning goals help you make the most of a shared lesson, so describe each participant’s ability when enquiring.

For continued practice, the individual five-hour lesson package lets you arrange several sessions. It is valid for two seasons. Agree how to divide the hours and arrange the times when booking, subject to availability.

Somport is the main location

Lessons take place in Somport, around the Somport pass and the Aragón valley. Candanchú can be considered as an alternative only when its cross-country circuit is operating. Confirm the venue, time and technique before your lesson, as arrangements depend on trail opening, snow and availability.

Prices and equipment

For one to four people, the quoted rate is the total price for the lesson, not a price per participant. The two-hour lesson for a private group of five to ten costs €32 per person. Cross-country equipment and the trail pass are not included. Check the available price options and arrange equipment specifically for classic or skate skiing, according to your chosen technique.

Total price and sharing examples

For one to four people, the main amount is the total lesson price, including VAT:

  • 1 person: €55 for one hour or €105 for two hours.
  • 2 people: €65 for one hour or €125 for two hours, in total for both.
  • 3–4 people: €80 for one hour or €155 for two hours, in total for the group.
  • Private group of 5–10 people: €32 per participant for two hours; multiply €32 by the number of participants to calculate the total.
  • Individual five-hour package: €250 for one person, valid for two seasons.

For example, two people taking a one-hour lesson pay €65 in total, or €32.50 per person when shared equally. For a private group of six taking a two-hour lesson, the total is €192 (6 × €32).

Book your cross-country ski lesson in Somport

Tell us your preferred dates, group size, experience and whether you would like classic or skate skiing. If you are unsure which to choose, describe what you want to learn. Confirm the duration, rate, circuit and meeting point before travelling.

Practical questions before your lesson

Can I book if I have never tried cross-country skiing?

Yes. You can request an introductory lesson covering equipment handling, balance and movement, adapted to your experience. Mention any previous Alpine skiing or other snow sports too.

What is the difference between classic and skate skiing?

Classic skiing uses parallel skis, normally in prepared tracks. Skate skiing uses a sideways push with the skis in a V. Equipment and exercises differ, so choose the technique according to your experience and goals when booking.

Is this a private lesson or an open group?

These are private lessons: come alone or share with your own group. The five-to-ten-person option is also for a pre-formed private group, with a per-person rate for two hours.

How long are the lessons and how does the package work?

One- and two-hour lessons are available for one to four people; private groups of five to ten have a two-hour option. The five-hour package is for one person, costs €250 and is valid for two seasons. Agree the session schedule when booking.

Are skis and a trail pass included?

No. Equipment and the trail pass are paid separately. If you need to hire equipment, ask for information and confirm that it is suitable for classic or skate skiing before your lesson.

Where and when can I take a lesson?

Somport is the main venue. Ask about dates, as lessons depend on trail opening, snow and availability. Candanchú will only be considered as an alternative when its cross-country circuit is operating, with the venue confirmed beforehand.

Check availability and plan your booking

  • Exercises, observation and feedback according to your experience and the session’s aims.
  • Arrangements for the lesson duration, time and meeting point, subject to availability and an operating circuit.

The duration and number of participants are those of the selected price option. The individual package provides five hours of tuition for one person, divided into sessions agreed when booking.

Services paid separately

Cross-country ski equipment and the trail pass are not included. Confirm their cost and any other conditions before booking.

  • Skis, boots and poles specifically for your chosen technique: classic or skate skiing.
  • Compatible boots and bindings, with suitable sizes and lengths for each participant.

Enquire about dates

Lessons are scheduled according to snow, trail opening and availability. No fixed dates are advertised: tell us your preferred days to enquire about a one- or two-hour session.

Somport is the main location. Candanchú will only be considered as an alternative if its cross-country circuit is operating, with the venue confirmed before the activity.

For the individual five-hour package, discuss how to divide the sessions. It is valid for two seasons.

Content matched to your starting point

Before starting, agree your experience, chosen technique and lesson aims. The session may draw on the following topics, according to your ability and trail conditions.

Classic cross-country skiing

  • Equipment handling and a basic skiing position.
  • Balance, propulsion and glide with parallel skis.
  • Coordination of your arms, legs and poles.
  • Speed control and adapting to changes in gradient.

Skate skiing

  • Basic position and balance on one ski.
  • Sideways propulsion and weight transfer.
  • Coordinating skating movements with your poles.
  • Adapting rhythm and technique to the terrain.

A focused progression

A one- or two-hour lesson prioritises the exercises that help you develop your chosen technique. At the end, discuss your next learning goals so you can continue practising. The individual package lets you divide five hours into agreed sessions to continue your progress.

Experience and goals

You can request an introductory lesson with no previous cross-country skiing experience, or a session to improve a technique you already use. Describe your classic, skate skiing and other snow sports experience when booking.

Explain what you want to work on: balance, glide, coordination or technical improvement. Tuition is tailored to your starting point and the goals agreed before the lesson.

Sharing a lesson

This is private tuition for one person or your pre-formed group. Participants sharing a lesson should have compatible abilities and goals. For five to ten participants, ask about arrangements for the two-hour lesson.

Before arriving

Bring equipment suitable for the chosen technique and arrange your trail pass. Confirm the date, time, meeting point and trail conditions in advance. Tell us about any circumstances that should be considered when organising the session.
