Guided Senda de Camille trek: six or seven days between Spain and France

Walk the Senda de Camille with PirineoSur between the Spanish and French Pyrenees. This circular trek links huts, passes and forests around Hecho, Aragüés and Lescun, with six- or seven-day arrangements.

Senda de Camille offers a guided trek in the western Pyrenees, crossing between Spain and France from hut to hut. Choosing six or seven days changes stage distribution and overnight arrangements, so agree on the format before booking. Describe backpacking experience and consecutive walking days to assess the route. The guide prepares alternatives while you organise huts, costs and transport with clear information.

  • Season: mid-June to late September.
  • Location: Western Pyrenees.
  • Duration: six days, with a seven-day option.
  • Group: one to ten people.
  • General level: moderate.

Experience and preparation

Stages are planned around six or seven hours of walking, with more activity time for stops. Early starts allow a full day, and the guide assesses variations according to the group. Prepare for consecutive days carrying a pack and describe your recent walking experience.

Senda de Camille stages

  1. Gabardito–Lizara. Via Salto de la Vieja, Plandániz and Foratón pass. An ascent of Bisaurín, 2,670 m, is a possibility to assess.
  2. Lizara–Somport. Paúl de Bernera, Valle de los Sarrios, Estanés lake and beech woodland.
  3. Somport–Arlet. From Aysa hostel through Sansanet and Espelunguère, crossing Col de Lapachouaou towards Arlet lake and hut.
  4. Arlet–Lescun. Via Col de Saoubathou and Puerto de Lo Palo towards the Aspe valley.
  5. Lescun–Linza. Via Mazouza, the Ansabère cirque, Petrechema pass and Foyas del Ingeniero.

Closing the circuit towards Gabardito. The published route names Zuriza, Taxeras, Achar d’Alano, La Reclusa, Collado Bajo de Lenito and Santana. The organisation is adapted to six or seven days, with an additional stage through Selva de Oza in the seven-day option. Confirm distances, height gain and loss, overnights and the final division of stages.

If you need luggage transport, ask about the option and its conditions before booking. Arranging accommodation does not mean hut and meal costs are paid; these are listed as excluded.

Equipment and arrangements

The six-day option includes six days with a mountain guide; the seven-day option includes seven days with a mountain guide. Services also include hut arrangements, planning, initial assistance insurance, advice and photos. Hut accommodation and meals, listed guide expenses, transport, extras and withdrawal or change costs are excluded. The published supplements for the seven-day option apply; check the tariff for your group.

A typical trekking day starts early, leaving plenty of time to complete the stage at a relaxed pace. Most stages involve around 6–7 hours of walking, with extra time for explanations, meals, photographs and enjoying the scenery.

The guide may choose route variations according to conditions, with the group’s safety and enjoyment in mind. The pace is adapted to the slowest member of the group; an extra afternoon walk may be possible after reaching the hut.
